Why Is the Sky Blue?
Edulin Children’s News · Week of 26 July 2026
Sunlight looks white, but it is made of all the colours.
Sunlight looks white, but it is made of all the colours. When it enters Earth's atmosphere, it bumps into tiny gas molecules. Blue light has a short wavelength and gets scattered much more than red light, so blue light comes at us from all directions. That is why the sky looks blue. At sunset, the light travels farther through the air, so we see red and orange.
Reported by Zoya, Class 4, Lakeview Public School, Bhubaneswar (young reporter).
