The Hummingbird: A Tiny Flying Wonder
Edulin Children’s News · Week of 31 May 2026
Hummingbirds are the only birds that can fly backwards.
Hummingbirds are the only birds that can fly backwards. Their wings beat up to 80 times every second, which makes the humming sound. They need to drink nectar all day because their tiny bodies use a lot of energy. Hummingbirds live in the Americas, but many other tiny birds, such as sunbirds, do a similar job in India.
Reported by Kabir, Class 5, Sunrise Learning Academy, Jaipur (young reporter).
