Three small stories from the week in space.
A new giant planet
Astronomers reported a new planet around the star 61 Cygni, which is just 11.4 light-years from us. It is a "super-Jupiter", several times heavier than Jupiter.
A rocky heart
Scientists studied the orbit of a moon of the dwarf planet Haumea and worked out that Haumea has a dense rocky core wrapped in an icy layer.
A very old photograph
On 30 September 1880 Henry Draper took the first photograph of the Orion Nebula, the cloud where new stars are born. That was 146 years ago, the start of astrophotography.
