In summer, the land of India gets hot, and hot air rises. Cooler, moist air from the Indian Ocean rushes in to take its place, carrying clouds with it. When the clouds hit the mountains and rise, they cool and release rain. That is the monsoon! It usually arrives in Kerala around the first week of June and travels north. Farmers and families wait for it every year.
