How Does a Rainbow Form?
Edulin Children’s News · Week of 16 August 2026
A rainbow needs sunshine and raindrops at the same time.
A rainbow needs sunshine and raindrops at the same time. Sunlight is made of many colours mixed together. When it enters a raindrop, it bends, reflects inside and bends again as it comes out, and the colours spread apart. You see red on top and violet at the bottom. To spot a rainbow, stand with the Sun behind you and look at the rain in front.
Reported by Ayaan, Class 8, Banyan Tree School, Indore (young reporter).
